About this role:
This role is responsible for providing HSE support, guidance and solutions for the STERIS AST – Mevex operations covering all facilities, field install, service and repair activities based.  This position is based in Ottawa Canada.  This position will work with the global HSE and business unit leadership team to develop and implement health, safety and environment strategy, standards, systems and initiatives to ensure compliance with local national regulations and STERIS global / regional HSE requirements. You will be responsible for driving high standards of safety performance supporting the STERIS business to achieve its HSE objectives and ensuring STERIS provides a safe work environment to all employees, visitors and Customers.
What you will do with us:
Health, Safety and Environmental Management (85%)

Provide proactive, efficient and professional HSE leadership, support and guidance to the Mevex operational and functional teams.

Manage the effective implementation of STERIS HSE standards and management systems, including policies, procedures, safe working instructions, guidance, and    information.

Support effective HSE team communication and other engagement initiatives to improve employee awareness, competency and safety performance.

Provide HSE overview and support for installation, servicing and repair work across Customer and third party locations to ensure that effective and comprehensive safety management systems, safe ways of working and safe work equipment are in place and maintained.

Maintain and manage local HSE action plans to ensure the appropriate prioritization, review and completion of HSE actions
What you will do with us continued:
      Manage the collection and analysis of business unit safety performance data and HSE metrics, identifying and reporting areas of concern and appropriate actions.

     Facilitate and administer the local HSE Committees, ensuring that accurate records are maintained, and actions are effectively captured and added to the HSE action plans.


    Environmental Compliance Management 15%

     Manage environmental compliance, including conducting reviews, to ensure the business unit is fully compliant with relevant environmental requirements.

       Coordinate environmental compliance tasks.
Education Degree
Bachelor’s Degree
You will be a great fit if you:

Maintain 5+ years of experience in similar HSE roles.
Experience of managing and maintaining HSE programs.
Experience within industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge and experience of Continuous Improvement / Lean manufacturing preferred.
Working knowledge of Safety and Health Management Systems (ISO 45001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
Experience of delivering effective HSE coaching and training achieving demonstrable learning outcomes.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with ability to manage site-level, regional operational and senior management relationships.
