Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist performs payroll accounting and administrative duties to support the Payroll department including, processing timekeeping, certified payroll reporting, staff training, setting up voluntary deductions, processing and auditing payroll, preparing and auditing payroll reports, processing garnishments and resolving payroll issues.
Duties

In parternship with the Supervisor, oversee and train all new and current Payroll Coordinators.
Responsible for creating and importing pay files related to 401k, commissions, etc.
Timely processing of various records, including labor input from Kronos, ETK (Electronic Time Keeping System) and MyTime.
 Assist management with staff training and development of processes and procedures.
Provide support for Payroll Supervisor with regards to payroll transmissions and provide back up to Coordinators as needed.
Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state and federal wage and hour laws, by conducting monthly audits of database and make corrections as necessary.
Responds to and assists in resolving difficult and sensitive requests.
Reviews and processes payroll adjustments when necessary.

Prepares periodic, routine reports and conducts monthly audits of database to ensure integrity of payroll data and make corrections as necessary.
Partners with third party vendors as needed (ADP, Vanguard, etc.).
Assists supervisor with implementation projects that affect payroll and human resources.
Contributes and participates in company-wide and department-specific events as required, which may require some weekends and evenings.
High degree of attention to detail, accuracy and follow through is a must.
 Payroll and HRIS systems contain highly sensitive and confidential information which requires this position to maintain the ability to handle all information with professionalism and confidentiality.

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree with a focus in accounting or finance
3 to 5 years’ experience working in payroll

Preferred Experience

Experience processing a multi-state payroll preferred
Experience working with payroll system, preferably ADP
Experience working with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; Database data entry & reporting, CPP or FPC preferred
