Position Summary
The IT Financial Analyst is responsible for the day to day analysis and maintenance of the Information Technology Department’s financial accounts and capital project details.   The Financial Analyst will leverage corporate financial policies, procedures, and modeling tools to reconcile, balance and report on the Information Technology Department’s financial position.  The IT Financial Analyst ensures identified IT project costs are reconciled to the budget projections monthly and analyzes spend to determine any risks.

Additionally, this position requires participation in the yearly planning and budgeting process and the monthly financial reporting process.  The IT Financial Analyst will establish and maintain strong business relationships with STERIS’ IT finance customer base and IT Department employees. 
Duties
Financial Accounting and Analysis – 65%

Completes the month, quarter and year-end financial close process for the IT department.
Creates and submits all IT department journal entries in support of the close process.
Creates and forwards journal entries and supporting documentation to Accounting.
Discuss reports with IT Management and the Accounting department, document changes and gather backup documentation for adjusting journal entries.
Creates and provides, on a monthly basis, expense worksheets for IT departments which compares fiscal year plan vs. year to date actual, and forecasts IT spend for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Creates and keeps current financial worksheets and graphs for IT capital and expense dollars as well as IT service targets.
Develop financial templates, models and analysis tools in Excel, Khalix, Oracle, Cognos BI and Informatica (standard financial reporting tools)
Publish and maintain IT financial information content on Sharepoint.
Run Accounts Payable Analysis reports for each IT department & review reports for discrepancies.
Run Accounts Analysis GL reports for each IT department & review for discrepancies.
Provides information to management by assembling and summarizing data; preparing reports; making presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations.

Duties – cont’d
Project Portfolio Maintenance – 15%

Gather and maintain the Capital Project Portfolio.
Create and maintain worksheets and graphs to quickly analyze IT Capital Project Portfolio.
Process Capital Project Request forms

Annual Planning and Budgeting Cycle – 10%

Participate in annual planning and budget process, supporting IT management in creating fiscal year plan.
Tracks financial status by monitoring variances from plan.
Determines financial status by comparing and analyzing plans and forecasts with actual results.

Special Ad hoc reporting and IT expenses support – 10%

Perform various financial inquiries as requested.
Reconciles and submits the monthly Telecom expense journal entries for inclusion in the Telecom Expense section of the MyOrg application.
Review capital requests in compliance with the STERIS capital policy, suggest changes as required, secure approvals and submit the approved capital requests to the project coordinator for set up in Oracle Financials.
Manages IT invoice processing, helps with invoice payment enquiries and other invoice/PO related questions

Increases productivity by developing automated applications; eliminating duplications; coordinating information requirements.

Education Degree
Bachelor’s Degree
Required Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
0 -2 years of financial accounting, analysis and reporting
Knowledge and/or demonstrated use of business reporting and financial systems (i.e. Oracle, Excel, Informatica, Cognos, LongView or Hyperion consolidation systems etc.)

Preferred Experience
Skills

Strong resolution and problem solving skills.
Strong analytical skills and business acumen. 
Key Microsoft Programs: Excel, PowerPoint
Knowledge of and skilled in manipulating large amounts of data into meaningful information.
Ability to be a self-starter; excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail; ability to work as a team member, as well as independently; ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment; ability to successfully execute many tasks simultaneously.
Customer service orientation is mandatory.
