Role Summary:
Flowserve is looking for a motivated Journeyman Machinist that is able to set up and operate manual machines including but not limited to lathes, mills, drill presses, saws, and grinders as well as CNCs. Work from complicated component drawings, routers, and/or verbal instructions to produce parts that meet specifications. Measure and inspect parts to verify that they are acceptable. Must possess practical metal cutting knowledge to make sound decisions in fabricating parts. The secondary role for this position is a mechanically inclined individual capable of assembling and repairing valves.
East Edmonton location
Regular Hours: 8:00 to 4:30 Monday to Friday
Responsibilities & Requirements: Responsibilities
Maintain Quality Control based off the internal policies and procedures also complying to the ISO 9001:2015 Standards
Rework valve components in materials of stainless steel, 400 series heat treat, stellite (Alloy 6), and carbon steel
Set up and adjustment equipment as needed to product acceptable parts.
Maintain assigned equipment and comply with preventative maintenance activities where applicable
Plan and lay-out work from design drawings, sketches and oral instructions
Use basic shop math and a working knowledge of trigonometry for figuring various angles, radius’, lengths, and other dimensional aspects of a part
Set-up and adjust any machine for a variety of short run or production runs to machine any type of component
Quality inspection of incoming parts as well as internally fabricated parts
Cooperative work ethic to assist in other areas of the operation
Requirements
Journeyman Machinist
Must have sound knowledge of machining metals in stainless, carbon steel, 400 series heat treat, etc.
Must be able to operate lathe, mill, drill press, saw, and grinder
CNC programming and operation
Self-motivated
Work well in team environment
Ability to work overtime as required
Must be able to work within close tolerances
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
Skilled in using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges
Skilled in the use of cranes and lifts to move heavy equipment.
Must show a customer-service mindset at all times
Able to communicate clearly so as to explain and resolve problems. Must be able to read and understand instructions
Demonstrated track record of a reliable work ethic with a personal commitment to quality workmanship
Able to work overtime and weekends as required on short notice
Standing for long times required, repetitive arm motions, frequent pushing and lifting with occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
In additional to machining, mechanical aptitude to perform millwright type duties
Preferred Experience / Skills: Forklift certification desirable
