Job Details

Role Summary:

Subject Matter Expert in downstream refinery processes, able to work with process licensors and end users to assist them in solving process, equipment and commissioning issues. Knowledgeable in ebullated bed, delayed coking and hydrocracking technologies. Able to work with process licensors and end users to specify valve, actuator and controls equipment into capital projects and to identify new and innovative technologies and product opportunities. Works with Sales, Engineering and Product Managers to adapt and qualify FCO Products into downstream refinery processes by understanding and communicating end user needs

Identifies and assesses future industry trends taking into account technology innovation, industry and product development.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

Customer facing Industry Expert who is knowledgeable about severe service refinery processes and liaises between FCO, process licensors and End Users to specify FCO products into these applications.
Understands customer needs and communicates internally with Engineering, Sales and Product Management to provide direction on FCO product shortfalls in these services, so that products and solutions can be developed to meet customer needs.
Works closely with Sales and Product Management to identify long term capital projects and create strategies to position FCO for winning and successfully executing these projects.
Provides expertise and assistance to process licensors, EPC’s and end users for the creation of P&ID’s and execution of HAZOP Studies
Works with Product Leaders to identify and specify FCO Products into refinery applications from P&ID’s. Able to communicate Design requirements to Engineering Teams from customer P&ID’s.
Familiar with Industry Standards and process equipment specifications and is able to perform benefit/ risk comparison between FCO and competitor product offerings.
Uses Technical expertise to influence licensor, EPC and end user specification requirements.
Works with Engineering, Service and Product Management teams to identify and understand product failures and underperformance in refinery applications.
Engages with end users, Engineering, Product and Service Teams to promote and drive innovative solutions to customer problems
Works with Product Management and Sales Teams to recommend the correct products and materials into these applications
Works with Engineering to establish industry best practices and develop solutions to address product performance issues.
Collaborates with cross functional teams and external partners to identify new and innovative technologies and product opportunities for the organization and evaluates Proof of Concept ideas for further development by Product Engineering.
Responsible for Pre-Gate 0 Evaluation/ Concept Design activities (and documentation) in the Development Process.
Works with marketing to explore and evaluate technologies and ideas proposed to FCO by research facilities, organizations and venture capital firms, with the aim of advancing FCO’s competitive position in new and existing markets.
Provides recommendations to management regarding which R&D projects should be executed by the company to maintain a competitive edge in the markets served and to enter potential new markets.
Engages with appropriate global Product and Engineering Leaders to alert and advise them on product failures and deficiencies.
Participates in organizational Root cause and failure analysis when requested
Participates in technology, product and DtV design reviews when requested.
Credible company representative at industry conferences and forums, with ability to engage experts and advance Flowserve’s technical standing in the marketplace.
Represents FCO’s technical and commercial interests as a key contributor to new or revised regulations and standards developed by industrial and regulatory organizations, also assists Engineering and Product Management teams to understand and address the impact of new standards and regulations on FCO Products.
Serves as a technical mentor and trainer to facilitate effective knowledge transfer to targeted staff
Recognized by peers within industry, academia and professional societies as an individual with exception technical knowledge.

Requirements:

Master of Materials Engineering or related technical field with 10 years relevant industry experience,
Bachelor of Materials Engineering or related technical field with 15 years relevant industry experience
Practical plant experience on a Refinery site.
Ability to read and develop Refinery Process P&ID’s
Experience in leading or participating in Refinery HAZOP process.
Knowledgeable on plant DCS and Control Logic.
