Role Summary:

Flowserve Aftermarket Services and Solutions (AMSS) is seeking an Applied Seal Product Engineer (ASPE) to work in the North America Mechanical Seal Order Engineering (NAMSOE) department. The role of the ASPE is to develop their knowledge and skill in drafting, design and engineering so they can provide support delivering product to our customers. Typical activities for the ASPE vary but include reviewing customer engineering design requirements, design request resource planning, using CAD tools to create standard and custom product design solutions, utilizing analytical tools to evaluate and optimize design solutions, coordinating product testing and partnering with the operations team to support design questions they may have.

Main Responsibilities and Activities:

Review and coordinateincoming engineering design requestsby consultingwith customers as necessary to clarify any questions and coordinate with the appropriate resources to complete the request.
UseSolidworks (3D) and AutoCad (2D) to create product assembly drawings and component drawings that showproduct design solutions for applications that range in complexity from the standardproduct offering tohighly customized one-of-a-kind designs.
Use and interpretengineering analytical tools (such as FEA) to evaluate and optimize product design against the customer applications and requirements.

Partner withtheoperations team andprovideany required technical guidance to support delivery of product to the customer.
Coordinatecustomer product testing by creating test plans and tester assembly drawings and coordinating with the appropriate testing departments.
Reference and apply product standards, engineering standards, and design standards whenever possible to aid in decision making and alignment with best practices.
Apply Lean manufacturing principles throughout the seal design process to reduce waste and promote value added design features.

Preferred Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design Technology, or similar technical discipline is required
0-5 years of engineering experience preferred

Skills:

Prior experience usingCAD Tools, experience with2D (AutoCAD) or 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Inventor) is highly desired
Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills is required
Able to understand and apply engineering principles to support product design and analysis.

Must be able to work as part of a team and independently to take ownership of tasks and deliver beyond our customers’ expectations.
The candidate must have great interpersonal skills with an emphasis on collaboration and communication skills
Understanding of continuous improvement concepts with a desire to improve the current state of products and processes is desired.
Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office Product Suite required.
Familiarity with analytical tools like ANSYS, CFD, or other FEA software is desired
