Role Summary:

Order Engineering is an integral member of the Customer Order Release process. Order Engineering prepares and reviews Engineering data, performs engineering studies and related calculations, coordinates cross-functionally with other Flowserve departments (internal and external ) to establish schedules for the fulfillment of standard and custom pump orders. Responsibilities & Requirements:


The Order Engineer team must provide the most accurate and thorough engineering data for customer orders while working within established delivery timeframes and cooperating with all other Flowserve departments.
Order Engineers are leaders in ensuring that order requirements are clear, correct, and technically viable.
Our work covers the Chesapeake facility and requires close collaboration globally with customers, suppliers, and fellow Flowserve sites in America, Europe, and Asia.
The Order Engineer team is chartered with providing, reviewing, and calculating engineering data for all facets of hydraulic and mechanical performance according to governing engineering, industry, and customer requirements(e.g., Bills of Materials, manufacturing process data and capabilities, and general alignment to Flowserve standards and customer requested specifications). This data is vital in ensuring customer orders are processed to meet or exceed quality standards, established lead times, and processed in the most efficient manner with very limited errors.
Order Engineers are expected to take the lead in ensuring that orders are understood, analyzed, scheduled, and released into Flowserve’s production process in the best and most efficient manner possible.
Order engineers also provide logistic, technical, and operational support to warranty and field support functions, day-to-day technical support within the Chesapeake facility, and interface with customers and vendors to achieve company goals.


Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Strong knowledge and use of CAD software with an emphasis on 3d model creation from 2D drawings
Demonstrated self-starter attitude with the ability to see efforts to completion
Knowledge of mechanical design principles including fluid flow, mechanics of material, drawing, and machining practices
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with MS Office products
Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills with a strong preference toward formal problem-solving tools (e.g., A3, 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.)
Demonstrated ability for attention to detail, meeting of due dates, advanced organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Demonstrated analytical capability to evaluate machinery form, fit, and function in areas such as strength and thermal loading, bolt, gasket, and bearing specification and approval, and recommendation with analysis of test data and instrumentation outputs

Preferred Experience / Skills:

3 years prior experience with rotating Equipment Engineer, especially in the pump industry and related sectors
Experience developing detailed production Drawings and Manufacturing instructions as required for customer components and “engineered-to-order” products, as assigned.
Basic understanding of machining and quality principles such as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), measurement techniques, and various manual and CNC metal cutting processes
Lean Certification or minimum of 2 years in Lean related activities#COS
