This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Entry-Level Assistant Water Resources Engineer for our Morristown, NJ office. The following locations will also be considered: Lawrenceville, NJ. Your Impact

Serve as support staff for water resources, drainage, stormwater and ecosystem restoration projects.
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to support water infrastructure, environmental, as well as resiliency and climate adaptation projects.
Conduct field work and data collection for watershed studies, geomorphic assessments and to complete design tasks
Perform GIS and CADD analyses to support engineering and technical services.
Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.
Assist with performing basic professional water resources engineering work relating to water supply/quality/management, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, canal development,  river/stream/habitat restoration and fish passage, waste disposal, pollution control and treatment, and preserving the quality of the environment by averting the contamination and degradation of water resources. 
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline with a strong foundation in fluid mechanics and hydrologic principles.
0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
Familiarity with the concepts of professional water resources engineering work relating to water supply, quality, management, and treatment for various end uses – recreationally, commercially, and/or industrially.  
Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent graduate or May 2022 graduate in an accredited Civil/Environmental Engineering Undergraduate or Graduate program.
The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of internship experience in civil/environmental engineering.
Experience using ArcGIS, AutoCAD and/or Microstation software.
