This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-time Construction Inspector for our San Diego, CA  office.  The following locations will also be considered: Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino.  Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Projects may span multiple disciplines, such as water, sewer, and sanitation construction.  Most projects are related to water and wastewater infrastructure and include construction of new advanced water treatment facilities, upgrades to existing wastewater treatment plants, construction of new water distribution and sewage collection systems, sewer lift stations, water pumping stations, below and above ground reservoirs, and hydraulic structures.
Your Impact

Read and interpret project plans, specifications and standards (e.g. Water Agency Standards, Wastewater Agency Standards)
Monitor construction for compliance with project documents
Prepare daily inspection reports
Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures
Inspect pipeline, sewer lift stations, water pumping stations, sewage collection systems, reservoirs, water treatment facilities and wastewater treatment facilities, hydraulic structures
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma.
5 years of inspection experience in public works/highway/bridge/transit/aviation industry OR 5 years of experience in the public works/highway/transit/aviation sector working for a contractor or public agency OR Engineering or Construction Management Degree and 1 year of experience in the public works/highway/bridge/transit/aviation industry (any type of position).
Ability to travel to construction sites (local travel)
Valid state driver’s license.
Highly familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniques.
Highly familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Sound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
Sound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, spreadsheets, and tools.
Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specifications.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline 
Essential professional licensure/certification.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
Knowledge and experience working on public works projects
Knowledge and experience with in-plant fabrication inspection
