WSP is currently initiating a search for a Drainage Project Manager for our Southern California market. This position can be based in either or San Diego, Orange, or San Bernardino office.
Your Impact

Manages engineering activities for all phases of an assigned project.
Use creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgement to lead land development and infrastructure projects from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final design.
Collaborate with other Senior Engineering Managers in each design discipline, including structures, environmental, hydraulics/drainage, storm water, traffic, electrical, utilities, and right of way.
Lead in the formulation of advanced technical concepts in proposal development, preliminary design phases and presentations to clients.
Independently perform highly complex professional assignments demanding contributions calling for the application of specialized engineering principle.
Assure that engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements, budget control scheduling, cost engineering/control, quality control and project objectives.
Represent respective projects at meetings and conferences.
Support efforts in proposal development, project scoping as well as with client relationship.
Provide oversight to design team for various tasks within the scope of a project including training and supervising project team.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
Minimum of 15 years of related experience in the transportation industry, including management and design.
California PE registration, or ability to receive within 6 months.
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
Proven success in leading staff and delivering various types of infrastructure projects.
Business development experience.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Bluebeam.  AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation V8i and Inroads a plus.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. 
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
Experience related to transportation markets, particularly focused on transportation engineering design.
Experience working with SANDAG, Caltrans, City of San Diego, and other local agencies.
