This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for an Electrical Engineer for our Charlotte and Raleigh, NC office. WSP works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment. Project experience should include service utility coordination, power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm, emergency power systems, and coordination with city and state permitting agencies. Be involved in projects with our Property and Buildings Engineering Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Provides technical assistance and guidance for the due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector. Assist with the research, design, concept development, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects).  Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding material, installations, component, and construction specifications.  Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact

Work with engineering teams on innovative design, specifically in sustainable, high performing buildings including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, industrial manufacturing, and labs.
Work within multi-disciplinary project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners.
Plan and execute  electrical engineering tasks and contribute to a full range of electrical design activities.
Research & recommend fundamental components identified in electrical designs.
Service utility coordination and design of power distribution systems, lighting, fire alarm and emergency power systems, low voltage infrastructure, and UPS design.
Participate in the development of internal reports and collateral or reports for client meetings.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
3+ years of relevant post education experience in an electrical engineering capacity for the built environment.
Engineering in Training and/or LEED AP certification.
Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices. 
Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
Knowledge of relevant engineering, building, energy, and electrical codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Engineering in Training and/or LEED AP certification.
PE License a plus. 
Healthcare experience strongly preferred.
US Citizen.     #LI-PJ1
