This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Graduate Bridge Inspection Assistant Team Leader to join our Transportation Team in supporting our robust and growing Bridge Inspection Practice in the Southeast Region! This position will ideally be located in Mooresville, NC but could also work out of our Raleigh, NC office. This is an opportunity for anyone interested in working in the field to move into a high profile role with solid advancement opportunities.
The Graduate Bridge Inspection Assistant Team Leader shall use his/her relevant work experience to perform and complete evaluation of the condition, function and load carrying capacity of bridges and their individual components. These evaluations may form the basis of recommendations to bridge owners for repair, rehabilitation or replacement.
Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects in the public and private sector.  Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, roadways, and mechanical structures.  Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project.  Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality.
Your Impact

Use engineering and technical knowledge to inspect infrastructure with the intent of keeping the public safe and keeping our road systems in good working condition.
Gain experience and develop your skills with exposure to a wide variety of bridge types and see the progression of design through inspection of bridges of various ages.
Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures to ensure work is completed in a correct manner.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Travel will be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience
Proficient self-discipline with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Physically capable of performing field work including climbing ladders (40ft or less) and in close quarters, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc
Proficiency/Comfortable using hand and power tools.
The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Travel will be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a construction related discipline.
Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification.
Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
Ability to Perform engineering calculations and provide entry-level technical assistance on various bridge repair designs, bridge load ratings, and construction inspections.
Interest in UAS Drone flying.
Comfortable working at Heights (40ft+) and interest in working on Ropes (obtaining SPRAT Certification).
Enjoys getting out of the office, working outdoors, and seeing the world.
