This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Graduate Geologist for our Decatur, AL office. In this role you will have opportunities to use your knowledge of geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, geophysics, etc. to provide world-class consulting services to a variety of clients.
Your Impact

Perform field work, data collection, data interpretation and evaluation.
Perform office-based data review and geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards.
Assist with geophysical field investigations including seismic refraction, electrical methods, and borehole geophysical projects.
Perform subsurface field geologic exploration tasks including drilling and test pit explorations.
Perform various media sampling (groundwater, surface water, soil, air, etc.).
Conduct Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments consistent with ASTM standards; and
Perform data compilation, report writing and other related duties to support a project team.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Geology.
Ability to operate, trouble shoot, and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment.
Ability to lift and transport a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis during the course of work.
Safely operate a vehicle on behalf of the company.
Pass DOT certification training to operate a field truck pulling an equipment trailer.
Willingness to travel for field work as dictated by project demands which could be as much as 75% of the time and to periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project needs.
Detail-oriented, team player with good communication, analytical, organization, and time management skills.
Performance of work in inclement weather conditions following OSHA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Geology or Geophysics.
Experience performing soil and rock logging.
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, along with willingness to work as part of a group.
Exhibit strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with other data analysis and database tools is a plus.
