WSP is currently searching for a full-time Lighting Designer in our San Francisco, CA office.
You will work with a team of lighting design experts in the WSP lighting studio who provide lighting solutions for commercial, healthcare, hotel, civic, stadiums and educational facilities. The studio is dedicated to exploring and enhancing the user experience. By collaborating closely with client and design teams, as well as other specialty groups within WSP, the lighting studio provides lighting solutions that leverage all project disciplines. From concept design through construction, the lighting team works collaboratively, to provide innovative lighting solutions that utilize our techincal expertise to create designs that engage and inspire.
As a Lighting Designer, you will be responsible for overseeing the following aspects of a lighting project:
Lead tasks for lighting design projects
Implement design concepts, through all phases of the design and construction process
Review and/or prepare concept renderings and presentations
Create and/or review lighting layouts
Review and/or perform lighting calculations, analysis, and rendering studies, and use results to inform project decisions
Develop luminaire and controls specifications and schedules
Perform and/or review architectural coordination
Attend team and/or project meetings and interface with internal specialty groups
Who You Are
3-5 years of experience in Lighting Design
Bachelor Degree in Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, or Lighting Design
Strong creative design skills
Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
Strong attention to detail and highly organized
Self-starter, ability to work independently, as well as multi-task
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe Suite, and AGI32 or similar lighting software
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources; conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
4-7 years of experience in Lighting Design
Ability to render by hand
Ability to render using Photoshop and InDesign
Knowledge of sustainable lighting strategies
Working knowledge of energy codes and LEED
Achieve discipline certification or license
