This Opportunity
tk1sc, a WSP USA company, is seeking an Mechanical Engineer II for our Irvine, California office. 
The tk1sc Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for developing complex control schematics, controls points lists, sequences of operations and similar technical work as required by assignment.  Responsible for collaborating with HVAC design engineers to develop mechanical and controls basis of design documents, coordinate equipment selections, and develop building automation system specifications.  Will be expected to work with client IT Departments to develop system architecture diagrams which accommodate the client’s IT standards and integration expectations for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other systems.   Working with some supervision, the Engineer II is accountable for accuracy, timeliness and reliability, reporting to their Coach, Associate or Supervisor.
Your Impact

Baseline knowledge of Building Automation Controls for Small Fee Projects or Low-Level complexity projects.
Executes general directions as provided by others but begins to make some basic engineering decisions.  Developing the ability to anticipate recognize issues related to own work.
Performs coordination at a mid-range complexity level by reviewing drawings supplied by vendors, other team engineers, and the architects while implementing design modifications as necessary.
Ability to gather appropriate resources to solve problems.
Self-educates and pursues relevant training for others.
Assists supervisor by providing input on schedule and production tasks.
Believes in and champions the firm’s core values and inspires others to do the same.
Ability to monitor patterns and trends to see a bigger picture.
Understands overall project scope and the role of Building Automation Controls and the roles of other disciplines.
Demonstrates a minimum level of communication both internally and externally.
Significant experience monitoring and successfully managing time spent versus time allocated for task completion.  Understands basic firm financial terms and concepts
Developing skills in basic client communication.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
5 to 7 years experience in the Mechanical Engineering or Building Automation Controls Design discipline.
Experience and understanding of HVAC equipment function and performance for chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, air handlers, etc.
Experience with AutoCAD and Revit documentation and management as it applies to Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in Microsoft Office and Excel, Bluebeam.  
Ability to program in Excel is helpful. 
Proven ability to understand and recognize complex design problems.
Effective communication skills with a team-oriented attitude.
Knowledge of Mechanical and related California Energy Codes
Knowledge of Green Building practices and LEED Rating Systems
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others.
Ability to participate in needed learning activities in a way that makes the most of the learning experience.
Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures.
Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.

Preferred Qualifications 

E.I.T. Certification is desired.
LEED Certification is desired.
