kW Mission Critical Engineering is currently initiating a search for a Power Studies Engineer  for our Milwaukee, WI office
This Opportunity
As a Power Studies Engineer with us, you will develop and refine your skills in model building, data entry (cables and feeders as well as circuit breakers and relays), circuit breaker selective coordination (TCCs) and arch flash analysis. You’ll use these skills to contribute to larger projects, involving generator plants, medium voltage distribution, and uninterruptible power systems and to compile your findings into final reports for project leads.
Your Impact

Perform preliminary short circuit calculations to validate equipment ratings during design
Build power system models which accurately reflect designed and constructed systems
Perform medium and low voltage coordination studies to develop optimum protective relay and breaker settings balancing safety and operational reliability
Evaluate submitted equipment for capability to withstand available fault current at points throughout the distribution system
Perform arc flash studies in compliance with NFPA and industry standards
Generate short circuit, coordination, and arc flash study reports, along with arc flash labels
Coordinate with internal design leads and clients to obtain required information, discuss options, and develop solutions

Who You Are
The ideal candidate enjoys performing analytical calculations and thinking analytical about data. A background in physics or engineering is preferred as well as experience in building design or power studies.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics 
0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
Ability to listen to client needs, engage with design team members, and drive project beyond expectations
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of building codes, NFPA 70 & 70E, and IEEE 1584
Protective relaying design experience
Internship in building design or power studies
Large scale facilities or Mission Critical/Data Center experience
Experience with power studies tools (SKM, ETAP, etc)
