WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Project Manager – Telecommunications/Smart Grid for our Rochester, New York office. The following locations will also be considered: Binghamton, New York. Be involved in projects with our Energy Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Responsible for all aspects of the successful completion of assigned projects including:
Cost /Budgeting and Management
Construction Management Oversight
Commissioning Management Oversight
Regulatory and Stakeholder Management
Effective leadership in a matrix organization.
Initiation, Planning, Executing, and Closing Projects – defining the project WBS, Cost Baseline and OBS structure, initiating the project, building its comprehensive work plan, controlling and managing to the risks, scope, schedule and budget
Managing Teams – facilitating commitment and productivity, removing obstacles, and managing teams
Implementation and Management of Quality and Environmental Process and procedures on all projects focusing on meeting SPI and CPI performance indicators less than 1.0
Management of third-party projects including other transmission owners and interconnecting customers
Some travel is anticipated.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
5+ years of relevant information technology and project management experience
Knowledge of Information Technology design, architecture, and data virtualization is a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Competence in analytical techniques in tackling technical problems with some complexity
Demonstrates excellence in providing high quality level technical performance
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.
The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States, or be able to obtain work authorized status in the United States prior to the start of employment. This role is eligible for employment visa sponsorship for eligible and qualified candidates.
Technical knowledge of at least one of the following preferred:
AMI network management systems
Meter engineering, metering system operations and reporting
High-level network design
Physical security network concepts
Telecomunication circuit migration
Land mobile or cellular communication networks
Previous work experience in IT, operational telecom, network or systems engineering, or metering operations preferred.
