This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Part Time Senior Traffic Designer for our Las Vegas, NV office.  
Provides traffic engineering design support, guidance, and oversight to ensure the production of designs and specifications to be used for transportation engineering projects. Responsibilities involve providing support for and overseeing CADD designs on all aspects of traffic engineering, including traffic signals, lighting, ITS, signing, striping, traffic control, and MOT. Ensures that design phase deliverables, including plans, specifications, and estimates, are biddable and constructible. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, accuracy, and functionality.
Your Impact

Be involved with transportation projects that involve the design of traffic signals, lighting, ITS, signing, striping, traffic control, MOT, and other traffic engineering aspects. 
Perform traffic engineering design and prepare plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
Supervise and mentor junior staff for traffic design and preparation of PS&E.
Conduct Quality Control and Quality Assurance reviews on design and PS&E.
Ensure the design and PS&E meets MUTCD, NDOT, FHWA, and local agency standards, guidelines, and policies.
Coordinate and attend design and progress review meetings with clients. Prepare meeting agendas, exhibits, and minutes
Provide design support services during the bid and construction phases of projects.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in closely related discipline (or equivalent experience.)
7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in discipline with prior drafting and design support experience. 
Experience with both public and private sector work (e.g. state, city, county, utility districts, and private land development)
Experience supporting project managers and serving as deputy project manager.
Advanced proficiency with drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques. 
Advanced proficiency with relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. 
Demonstrated experience with technical computations and calculations involving the application of geometry and mathematical concepts, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate standards or regulations. 
Proficiency with coordinating with clients, regulatory and resource agencies, communities, and technical staff required.
Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. 
Highly capable self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from research, data collation, calculations, statistical analysis and identifying the most effective solutions to accomplish objectives of assigned projects.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications 

Master’s Degree.
Essential professional licensure/certification.
