WSP is currently initiating a search for a SHEQ Specialist for our Rochester, New York office. The following location will also be considered: Binghamton, New York. This is an excellent opportunity for a proficient SHEQ Specialist with a proven track record to support the expansion of WSP project management capabilities for a national client base in an internationally recognized global firm.  

 
Your Impact
Duties & Responsibilities:

Identify and report data for Client Project safety, health, environmental and quality activities.
Identify and report Client Project Performance Indicators (KPIs) where health, safety and quality are concerned.  
Responsible for developing, monitoring and reporting compliance activities.  
Perform complex studies and analyze data to identify process improvement opportunities.
Continuous monitoring of all project related activities to ensure alignment with and adherence to all Quality and Environmental Management Systems SOP’s.
Review of all contractor submitted safety, health, environmental and quality plans prior to construction, ensuring plans adequately cover Client requirements and then monitor activity for adherence to approved plans.
Attend construction kick-off meetings to encourage and enforce compliance to Client SHEQ requirements and conduct site visits to monitor compliance activities on all projects.
Facilitate safety meetings with both internal and external personnel, training of SOP’s and various miscellaneous initiatives as requested.  This includes development and presentation of material to support training, initiatives, etc.
Assist Project Managers in the development of all project QMS/EMS documentation including but not limited to Project Initiation Forms, Charters and Project Management Plans for ultimate presentation to the Steering Committee for approval.
Regularly visit active project construction sites to ensure compliance to all AVANGRID and Projects safety, quality and environmental requirements.  
Exercise responsible and ethical decision making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/ GED
5 to 7 years’ experience in project safety, health, environment and/or quality required.
Experience with Natural Gas Transmission and Distribtion construction.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.
The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States, or be able to obtain work authorized status in the United States prior to the start of employment. This role is eligible for employment visa sponsorship for eligible and qualified candidates.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree 
3 years of experience with Six Sigma, Quality Management System standards (i.e. ISO-9001, TS-16949, etc.).
3 years of experience with Environmental Management System standards (i.e. ISO 14001).
3 years construction safety experience with a diverse project background
Completed an OSHA 30 Hour Outreach Construction Course.
