This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a licensed engineer or architect for a Sr. Facilities Lead (Architect or Engineer) for our Capital District in Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, Herndon, VA, or other Capital District offices. Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 
Our team provides services across the country for transit, public works, military, and schools in the area of maintenance and operations facility programming and design, master planning, shop equipment coordination (preparation of equipment layouts and specifications), and fleet management and maintenance consulting.  Projects are typically fast-paced with durations ranging from several days to several years.  

Your Impact

Provide expert review of plans and designs to determine if they meet all applicable Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.  
Perform ADA compliance reviews of engineering and architectural designs for multiple projects occurring simultaneously. 
Attest as to whether an assigned design meets all ADA Title II and Title III standards and guidelines.
Provide feedback and state specific reasons when a design does not meet ADA standards.
Submit and document recommendations that would enhance the accessibility of the designs upon completing an engineering design review.   
Perform field visits to review and/or validate ADA compliance as required.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
Licensed Architect or Engineer. 
Minimum of ten (10) years of expertise in accessible design and ADA compliance design review.
Experience providing design solutions for transportation facilities. 
Ability to review civil engineering and architectural drawings and calculations to determine whether proposed drawings, designs, and/or site plans are fully compliant with the ADA Standards for Transportation and comply with the Architectural Barriers Act Section 504 useability requirements.
Ability to review civil engineering and architectural drawings and, where appropriate, propose workable and useable accessible design solutions. 
Ability to review raised lettering and braille tactile signage for ADA compliance. 
Ability to perform ADA substantial completion inspections for facilities and provide compliance comments/punch-lists with references to ADA Standards as appropriate to facilitate resolution.  
Ability to participate in the design development and transit equipment design review workshops. 
Experience in Areas of Refuge design, communication systems, and onsite verification. 
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. 
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. 
Proven ability to guide assigned projects through successful completion.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. 
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree is preferred.
