This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for Senior Geologists for our Midland, TX office.  The following location will also be considered: Carlsbad, NM. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges
Your Impact

Lead efforts for Phase I/Phase II environmental site assessments, site and remedial investigations, and oversight of remedial actions, and subsequent report preparation. 
Responsibilities will encompass both office and field activities. 
Office activities may include preparing proposals, reviewing and interpreting historical documents and reports, preparing planning documents, reducing and interpreting data, and preparing technical reports. 
Field activities may include site reconnaissance, sampling of various environmental media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air), oversight of soil borings and monitoring well installations, oversight of remedial construction, and other related tasks. 
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelors Degree or course work in Geology or similar.
5-7 years of work experience in geology, environmental sciences, ecology, natural resources management and/or environmental engineering
Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator.
Must be physically able to climb slopes and berms, and cross uneven terrain, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
Have the ability to identify different rock formations and understand hydrogeologic processes.
Able to analyze and solve problems independently
Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients and subcontractors
Able to work both independently and as a member of a project team
Able to oversee and work with subcontractors (e.g., drillers, construction workers, surveyors, etc.) while performing field work
Frequent travel and/or field work (valid driver’s license required)
Able to work overtime (as needed) in both office and field
Competence in Microsoft Word™, Microsoft Excel™, and Adobe Acrobat Professional™
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP”s Code of
Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 

Preferred Qualifications 

Knowledge of state and federal environmental laws and regulations such as NMED, NMOCD, RCRA, CWA, CAA
Experience collecting samples according to industry standards.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training
