This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Project Manager (Transportation) for our Washington, DC to support our transit agency client.   This position will be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact

Apply high-level engineering project management skills to build capital program delivery and implementation models. 
Develop and lead  a multi-disciplinary team to respond to public transit agency requests. 
Interface with the client organization, contractors, and WSP Management/Program Director to work in accordance with the project procedure, define team goals, and guide the WSP project staff.
Conduct meaningful and high-level engagements with clients to ensure project success and develop a trusting and lasting relationship.
Ensure that client expectations are met, and manage the project in accordance with project management best practices and WSP procedures and policies.  
Proactively communicate project needs across a wide range of stakeholders including senior management teams, third party agencies, and project leaders. 
Engage subconsultants and partner consultants to build relationships and winning teams with the most applicable and competitive skills relevant to upcoming task order RFPs.
Conduct investigations and inspections of site conditions and transportation infrastructure and structures to determine project delivery mechanisms.
Distill complex project dynamics into actionable and accountable directives.
Assist with review of permit applications, design plans and specifications, standby plans and contracts, and periodic construction inspections to ensure that they comply with applicable state and/or federal regulations and sound structural/civil engineering practices and standards.
Meet with client or individuals to discuss issues relating to engineering or construction. 
Manage and mentor project team members to support their growth and professional development.
Foster a working environment where project staff can work together cooperatively to deliver the project on-time and on-budget. 
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
10+ years of relevant post-education experience delivering technical engineering and/or construction projects for public or private sector clients.
Experience managing large capital programs including the design or construction of transportation facilities.
Proven familiarity with relevant agency processes within the Capital Region such as VDOT, WMATA, DRPT, or other.
Ability to engage clients to build positive relationships and demonstrate technical acumen.
Proven track record of successfully managing a project site including construction and engineering staff.
Proven ability to manage complex budgets and schedules.
Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of transportation facilities or structures.
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Strong self-leadership skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to project members with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 


Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree.
Professional Engineer licensure.
PMP certification.
Experience working for and / or with a public transit agency that provides heavy transit rail and fixed route bus service.
