This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Summer 2022 Bridge Inspection & Repair Sr. Intern for our Mooresville, NC and/or Raleigh, NC office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
Learn basic principles of Structural Engineering and become familiar with Microstation and WIGINS.
Assist with field work, reports and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
Support preparation of repair design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Current standing as a Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student actively enrolled in an accredited Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related Undergraduate or Graduate program.
Prior related internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

Current standing as a Rising Senior or Graduate student actively enrolled in an accredited Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related Undergraduate or Graduate program.
Able to perform field work and transverse steep slopes.
Experience using Microstation software.
Previous internship experience in related field.
Local candidates preferred. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
