This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Water Resources Engineer for our Baltimore, MD office.  The ideal candidate will support in assessment, design and plan production for water resource projects such as drainage design of open and closed systems, stormwater BMP design, erosion and sediment control design, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, water resources planning, watershed management plans and studies, ecosystem restoration and geomorphic and water quality monitoring. Be involved in projects with our Maryland Water Resources Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.  
Your Impact

Assist senior engineers in the development of a wide variety of water resource design, assessment, planning and monitoring projects.
Perform stormwater management, ecological restoration, drainage, erosion sediment control design analyses including performing calculations and determining basic design requirements for new development, environmental restoration, and transportation projects.
Utilize CADD and GIS tools to determine drainage areas and other hydrologic components in support of H&H analyses.  Have a basic understanding of hydraulic modeling and the ability to learn WIN TR-55, WIN TR-20, HEC-RAS and other modeling software in support of design projects.
Prepare technical reports summarizing analysis and project requirements, including how design approach addresses project requirements.  
Prepare complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and software.
Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to prevent, control, restore, clean-up, or address environmental issues or problems.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering.  
Engineer-in-Training Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. 
Experience and working knowledge of the following:

CADD production and civil design software skills (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Geopak, Inroads/PowerRoads/OpenRoads, Civil 3D);
Familiarity with CADD programs to prepare proposed condition surface models and/or other CADD related models;
H&H analysis using WinTR-55, WinTR-20, HY-8 and similar programs; and
Familiarity with HEC-RAS (1-D or 2-D) or similar hydraulic modeling software.

Knowledge of GIS software and applications (e.g., Arc GIS, GISHydro, etc.)
Self-starter with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with some supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Ability to travel locally to support business needs.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in the above-referenced discipline.
Maryland Professional Engineering License or on track to take exam within a 1 year of hire.
Affiliations with professional societies and active industry and community involvement are highly desirable.
